Co-founder of Gingercontrol and Peony. Former VC at Target Global and Backed VC. Imperial College London.
About
I studied Biomedical Engineering at Imperial College London on a full scholarship, holding first-class standing before dropping out to build companies. I also founded the Imperial Blockchain Society.
During my undergraduate years at Imperial I worked on non-invasive brain–computer interfaces — specifically around deep sleep patterns — at the UK Dementia Research Institute. I also interned at Jane Street and at Nomura. After dropping out, I moved to venture capital at Target Global for growth equity, late-stage investments, and secondary transactions — then joined Backed VC, where I evaluated EU and US startups across AI, Blockchain, and Consumer.
I co-founded Gingercontrol, an AI-native trade compliance solution for cross-border import/export — now used by 90+ enterprises — and raised $2.1M for it from Backed VC — where I cut my teeth as an investor, a full-circle moment — Anthony Avidissian, and others. Gingercontrol reduces classification time by 94% and improves accuracy by 5.3x. Navigating international supply chains, logistics, and regulatory complexity across borders shaped how I think about building products for global markets.
I co-founded Peony to make data rooms accessible to every team — not just enterprises paying $60,000 a year. We now serve 4,300+ teams who have raised $18.8B+through Peony, at 99% lower cost than incumbents like Datasite. We've raised $2M for Peony from Matt Clifford (EF / ARIA), Charlie Songhurst (ex-Microsoft), Third Kind Capital, Tribe Capital, Possible Ventures, and Backed VC again.
Outside of my companies, I advise on fundraising and go-to-market — including Lucida Capital, a hedge fund and market maker with $35M in AUM. With a friend, I also bootstrapped two gaming arcades in Shanghai's Baoshan district — one of which ranks as the top kids' arcade in Baoshan, a district of 2 million people. Outside of work, I'm obsessed with biomaterials, nutrition science, and evolutionary psychology.
What I Believe
We live in a simulation — the world is predictable, given enough data and compute
Reality is information processing. What feels like chaos is missing data and missing compute, not metaphysics. Luck is just an expression of compute overflow — outcomes the universe computed that exceeded your local model's ability to predict, surfacing as 'fortune' or 'bad break.' As models scale and the world is increasingly instrumented, more of life's noise resolves into signal. It's the lens behind everything I build.
As authority shifts from humans to algorithms, we may no longer see the world as the playground of autonomous individuals struggling to make the right choices. Instead, we might perceive the entire universe as a flow of data, see organisms as little more than biochemical algorithms, and believe that humanity's cosmic vocation is to create an all-encompassing data-processing system – and then merge into it. Already today we are becoming tiny chips inside a giant data-processing system that nobody really understands.
The size of your semantic search space predicts emotional control and bonding
The more concepts, metaphors, and distinctions a person can readily reach for, the better they can name what they feel before it runs them — and the more precisely they can meet others where they are. You can't regulate what you can't label, and you can't bond across a gap you can't map. Vocabulary isn't decoration; it's the substrate of self-regulation and intimacy.
Data rooms should cost $480 a year, not $60,000
Enterprise VDR vendors charge 100x what the technology costs to deliver. Startups and boutique firms deserve the same security and compliance features without the enterprise tax. That's why I built Peony.
Trade compliance is broken — AI fixes it
Cross-border trade compliance is still run on spreadsheets and manual checks. AI-native solutions like Gingercontrol cut classification time by 94% and improve accuracy 5.3x — at a fraction of the cost and error rate.
Content-led GEO is the new frontier of organic discovery
Generative Engine Optimization — making your brand citable by ChatGPT, Perplexity, Claude, and Google AI Overviews — is reshaping how brands get found. I've built Peony's traffic from 10 to 150 daily clicks through content-led GEO, and most brands are underinvesting in AI discoverability.
Drop out if the opportunity cost is real
I left a full scholarship at Imperial because the learning-by-doing in startups and investing outpaced the classroom. Not advice for everyone — but if you've found the thing, don't wait for permission.
Build authority before you need it
The time to establish yourself as an expert is before your next venture, not during it. Content, community, and public thinking compound. Every founder should be writing.
